In a declaration of commitment and humility, Hon. Azeez Owolabi Ogidan formally began his tenure as Executive Chairman of Coker-Aguda LCDA, stating, “I may not be perfect, but I will be present.” Delivered during his inaugural address at the swearing-in ceremony for councillors, the remark set the tone for leadership rooted in transparency, accessibility, and impact.
The ceremony, held at the LCDA Secretariat, followed his swearing-in by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Sports Pavilion, Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, the previous day. Dignitaries included Apex Leader Hon. Medinat Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe; Deputy Apex Leader Alhaji Dadanla; Hon. Lanre Okunlola, Member of the House of Representatives for Surulere Constituency II; Hon. Aliu Kazeem, former Member of the House of Representatives and pioneer Chairman of Coker-Aguda LCDA; and stakeholders across party, community, and religious lines.
Hon. Ogidan’s speech reaffirmed his people-first philosophy and unveiled the Ogidan Development Blueprint, a strategic plan aligned with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ agenda.
Our focus is clear: responsible governance that builds on existing efforts, completes what must be finished, and boldly forges ahead to meet the needs of our people without wasting a single resource.
His plan includes investments in infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, sanitation, healthcare, and food security, anchored by innovation and participatory governance.
We will empower residents through education, skills training, youth centres, and ICT hubs. We will complete ongoing infrastructure projects and launch new ones to improve roads, drainage, lighting, and sanitation.
A hallmark initiative of the administration will be Ounje Arugbo for senior citizens, alongside modernised public schools, upgraded health facilities, and open-door leadership through town halls and grassroots inclusion.
It is your turn. This administration will create opportunities for you to lead, to innovate, and to thrive.
With the councillors officially inaugurated, Hon. Ogidan emphasised unity of purpose and called on the new administration to transform residents’ hopes into visible improvements.
He concluded with a call to collective action: “Together, street by street, ward by ward, community by community, we will build a better Coker-Aguda where peace, progress, and prosperity shall prevail.”
