Persons with Disabilities
About the Association
Building representation, opportunity and an inclusive community for persons with disabilities across Coker-Aguda LCDA.
The Association was established in 2021. Its first meeting was held in February of that year by twelve members, creating a united platform for persons with disabilities within the LCDA.
From those twelve founding members, the Association has grown to more than thirty members working together to advance inclusion, accessibility, empowerment and disability rights.

Aims and Objectives
The Association works across advocacy, empowerment, accessibility, collaboration and practical support.
Advocacy and Lobbying
Advocate for the rights and interests of persons with disabilities, and engage government and stakeholders on inclusive policies and programmes.
Empowerment and Support
Provide access to information, resources and opportunities for economic empowerment, education and healthcare.
Social Inclusion
Promote inclusion and integration into mainstream society while challenging stigma and stereotypes.
Networking and Collaboration
Facilitate collaboration among persons with disabilities, government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.
Monitoring and Reporting
Monitor the implementation of disability-related policies and programmes, and report progress and challenges.
Promoting Accessibility
Promote accessibility in public spaces, infrastructure and services, ensuring equal access to opportunities.
Support Services
Support counselling, vocational training and access to assistive devices for persons with disabilities.
Policy Development
Contribute to disability-friendly policies and programmes at the local-government level.
Partnership and Resource Mobilisation
Partner with government agencies, NGOs and private-sector organisations to mobilise resources and support.
Disability Rights
Promote awareness and realisation of disability rights, including education, employment and social protection.
National Affiliation
The Association is registered with and affiliated to NAPWPD, the National Association of Persons with Physical Disability.
Ijoba Ibile Para-Games
On 15 and 16 May 2024, five members participated in the Ijoba Ibile Para-Games Tournament hosted by Ojokoro LCDA. The team’s participation was sponsored by the former Chairman, Razak Ibrahim Olamilekan (RIO).
